Areas We Serve

Greater Cape Town, the Northern and Southern Suburbs, the City Bowl, the Helderberg and out into the Winelands and the Boland. Travel is free within 30km of our Durbanville base and R500 to R1 500 out to 100km, which covers almost everywhere people actually hold events. Beyond that we will quote the travel separately and tell you up front.

Where Spit Braai Pro cooks

We are based in the Northern Suburbs and cater across greater Cape Town, out through the Helderberg and into the Winelands. Travel is free within 30km of Durbanville, R500–R800 from 30 to 50km, R1 000–R1 500 from 50 to 100km, and quoted openly beyond that rather than buried.

Wherever we are cooking, the per-head rate is the same — R150 for lamb — and the chef comes with it; only the travel line changes. See spit braai prices for what that covers.

What we need on site

• A level area about three metres square, on ground rather than a wooden deck
• Reasonable shelter from heavy wind — a courtyard, carport or lee side of a building
• Access to a tap
• Vehicle access within a sensible carrying distance of where the spit will stand

No power is required. The spit runs on coals and, where needed, its own gas.

Beyond greater Cape Town

We do travel further — the Overberg, the Boland and up the West Coast. Up to 100km the travel is R1 000–R1 500; past that it is quoted, and told to you up front rather than added afterwards.

The City Bowl, the Atlantic Seaboard and Hout Bay

Cooking on the Seaboard is rarely a question of whether we can get there and almost always a question of ground. A spit needs about three metres of level surface that is not a balcony or a timber deck, and somewhere to stand a vehicle while the equipment comes off. Tell us the address when you enquire and we will tell you straight away whether it works.

Muizenberg to Simon's Town

Two things change the plan down the peninsula. One is the single road past Fish Hoek, which means the chef leaves earlier rather than later. The other is baboons: in the troop areas around Simon's Town, Da Gama Park, Glencairn and Scarborough an open fire with meat on it is an attraction, so the spit gets sited and screened with that in mind instead of being discovered on the day.

South Peninsula areas we cook in

If your area is on this list, the rate is the same R150 a head for lamb. Travel is R500 to R1 500 depending on how far down the peninsula you are, and the chef simply leaves earlier for the far end.

A good share of what we cook out this way is at halls, sports clubs and church grounds rather than gardens, which changes the practical questions: where the trailer stands, how far the carry is from the vehicle to the fire, and whether the headcount runs past 150. Same per-head rates as anywhere else, no surcharge, and travel priced by distance from Durbanville.
